Much of my work is informed by a previous life at sea - working on water, watching its ever-changing colours, its states of calm and unrest, experiencing the weather, the overall feeling and imagery seems absorbed to remain forever.

Now, living in the Test Valley, minutes from the New Forest, I try to reflect the essence of the local countryside and beyond, in an impressionist or abstract style.

I work occasionally in oil, but mainly in acrylic as this medium really lends itself to being experimental in my approach. I occasionally use a reference image or just reflect on a memory for a short while, but very soon a painting will seem to talk back and lead me.
